I spent the weekend at a couple of snowboard events.
The first was Smith Grudge Match 6 at Snow Valley on Saturday March 6th.
However I was not competing in the contest. I was called upon (to use my two years of experience doing BRO-SESH) to judge the event. It was a great event, it was 34 competitors which included 4 girls and dudes of all ages. Everyone got two runs to show the judges what they had. We the judges then combined the score of the two runs to come up with a final 16 guys. And since there were only four girls they all made it to the finals.
The finals at Smith Grudge Match goes like this; each competitor goes against another, whichever of the two had a better run moves on to the next round. until there is only two. than the final two get 3 runs, best two out of the three takes the title as champ of Smith Grudge Match 6.
so I saw Dinosaur Jr.on Friday night and wanted to post about that,
but then I got sidetracked by THIS happening on Saturday afternoon…
It started with crazy hail for a while, then an insane downpour that flooded the city. i had to move all of my stuff out of my apartment after some crazy leaks coming through the lights, but i managed to save all my stuff and i got to move back in today. apparently it was the worst storm anyone can ever remember. gee, glad i was here for it…
Busy week at work but I managed to pack tees and records for the new Kranium release, get some punk vinyl, take a trip to our suburban warehouse in search of a video master.
It’s not very often I find a band from Ontario that I love, but I can always get behind these youngsters from Oakville. Check out their myspace for more!
I went to Glen Eden and shredded a little last night. I am not gonna lie, there seemed to be a few bummed people I wasn’t there doing the SESH. On the other side of the coin, there were a few BRO’s who were still throwing down like it was any one of the previous 8 Wednesdays.
I’d like to take the time to thank everyone who helped and participated in BRO-SESH season 2. 8 consecutive weeks of BRO-SESH’s ;as well as two pre-season SESH’s. There isn’t anybody else (that I know of) doing this for their community. So stay positive and maybe we’ll do one last BRO-SESH this season.
If you want to say something positive, or negative, or share a story that wasn’t in one of the videos of BRO-SESH do it here. I look forward to hearing from you!
Hip hop week it is. Here’s a video from the 90’s on the debatable first element of hip hop – b-boying. It’s a long video but do take the time to see it through, the fine subtleties are curiously rewarding. Please note that these lovely middle eastern cats are breaking at a wedding.
